Alex Mudd profile

Fostered by a childhood in the West Indies, the travel bug bit me early. Propelled by my enthusiasm for diverse cultures and hot food, I had the good fortune to have travelled to over 50 countries across 7 continents, including both poles. Some of my most memorable experiences include dog sledding in the Arctic, kayaking in Alaska, snorkelling with whale sharks off Mexico and piranha fishing in the Amazon.

Countries you sell?
The world's most compelling boat-based journeys - Antarctica & Arctic, Amazon, Alaska, Baja Mexico, The Mekong, Burma, Madagascar, India, Turkey, and Papua New Guinea.

What has been your favourite travel experience?
Taking the whole of 1998 to wind my way around the world from south-east Asia, via Japan to Australia, and then up the spine of the Andes having passed through New Zealand and Easter Island en route.

The best hotel/lodge that you have stayed in?
Ponta Dos Ganchos, Southern Brazil.

Your favourite restaurant?
Zamas, Tulum.

What have been your most remote travel experiences?
Antarctica, East Greenland, and to a remote part of the Ecuadorian Amazon belonging to Huaorani territory.

Most embarrassing travel experience?
Errrrr....caught short high up in Shan State, Burma.

Your one luxury when you travel?
Reading material on the country I'm travelling through.

What’s your best piece of travel advice?
Don't sit around procrastinating about it,  just go!

Where you would like to visit next and why?
India – why not?
