To celebrate the milestone, the museum will be holding a number of events throughout 2008 under the theme: Museums as Agents of Social Change and Development.
Visitors are being urged to head to Botswana over the next 11 months, with events such as International Museum Day in May and President's Day in July all being included in the celebrations, according to the Reporter
Speaking at the launch of the celebrations this week, national museum director Gaogakwe Phorano said that President's Day will see the museum expand its Art and Craft Exhibition to include work by local people such as basketry, pottery, woodwork, textiles, weaving and musical instruments.
He added that July is to be named Culture and Heritage month, with the museum offering up a range of activities to be enjoyed by both foreign visitors and those living nearby.
