Group Tour Outline
Day 1:
Arrive Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname.
Day 2:
Fly Paramaribo to Georgetown. Afternoon city tour of Georgetown.
Day 3:
Full day tour of Kaieteur Falls & Orinduik Falls, by light aircraft.
Day 4:
Fly Georgetown to Rupununi Savannah. Evening foray on the Rupununi River, supporting an ongoing field study of black caiman.
Day 5:
Morning visit to an Amerindian community. Afternoon boat transfer to Karanambu Ranch; home of Diane McTurk renowned for her conservation work with giant river otters.
Day 6:
Day at leisure.
Day 7:
Early morning trek in search of Giant Anteater. Transfer from Rupununi Savannah to Iwokrama Rainforest.
Day 8:
Transfer by boat through the Iwokrama Rainforest to the Amerindian community of Surama.
Day 9:
Early morning hike across the savannah to climb Surama Mountain at sunrise. During the afternoon fly Surama to Georgetown.
Day 10:
Fly Georgetown to Paramaribo. Afternoon city tour of Paramaribo.
Day 11:
Fly Paramaribo to Kayana.
Day 12:
Morning rainforest hike with guide. Afternoon at leisure to enjoy the Awarradam Rapids. Evening transfer by dugout canoe to Stonhuku to visit a local Saramaccan community.
Day 13:
Full day adventure on the Gran Rio River.
Day 14:
Fly Kayana to Paramaribo.
Day 15:
Full day tour along the Commewijne River to visit sugar cane plantations, the Thilapia Fishery and various local agricultural projects.
Day 16:
Transfer from Paramaribo to Korou, home of the Guiana Space Station.
Day 17:
Full day guided tour of the Îles du Salut (Salvation Islands).
Day 18:
Early morning tour of the Guiana Space Station in Korou. Afternoon transfer from Korou to Cayenne.
Day 19:
Morning guided city tour of Cayenne. Afternoon transfer to the international airport.
