Mozambique Holidays
Mozambique is a country in southeastern Africa bordered by the exquisite glistening waters of the Indian Ocean. With pristine white beaches, palms, milk wood trees, sand dunes, scrubby forests, inland lakes and surrounded by crystal clear waters, the Mozambique archipelagos are said to have some of the best diving in the world.
There are two main destinations, both of which are archipelagos just off the coast of Mozambique: Querimba in Northern Mozambique and Bazaruto in Southern Mozambique. For travellers inclined to something slightly calmer, Southern Mozambique is best, where roads and transport are good and the resorts are idylic getaways.
For the more adventurous travellers, head across the Zambezi River into the wilds of Northern Mozambique, one of Africa’s last frontiers. Getting around here takes more time and patience, but the wonderful coastal panoramas, sense of space and the sheer adventure of travelling beyond the ordinary allow access to some of the continent’s most idyllic island lodges and certainly make the extra journey well worthwhile.
